Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ December 2014

As we near the end of this year, I thought it time to bring out one of the more recent acquisitions to my tarot collection: Mme. Loviise’s Tarot of the Zirkus Mägi by Douglas Thornsjo. When I first found out about this deck I knew I had to have it – a circus-inspired deck? Hooray! I have long thought it a bummer that even though I have the job that would land me a spot in a circus, the hey-day of the travelling circus is long gone.

Though the more I read about the history of the circus the gladder I am of my more sedentary approach to my work: a nice quiet tarot office where I work for myself, a kettle for making cups of tea, running water, a nice bathroom a few steps from my office door and a daily routine of my own choosing that serves me well. If there was a circus I would join it would be Erin Morgenstern’s ‘Night Circus’ but that after all is a fictional book, so I am plum out of luck in that regard. But enough of this! On with the show!

First up is the Six of Rings (Pentacles), referred to as ‘Patronage’ in this deck. With the Six of Rings we get to just ‘show up’. We don’t talk about things that one day we are going to do, we just turn up and experience the event for ourselves. Six of Rings? Do you have something to add?

Treat me like a friend who you would like to see thrive and be successful. Pay what you know I am worth, in order to spend time with me. By that I just mean don’t take advantage of the skills that we each have. Honour the life-force within each member of the Collective and don’t try to squeeze out more than they are willing to offer. Play nice.

And if you are going to turn up to support, do it because you truly want to, because the last thing we need here at The Big Top is a crowd of dull, vague or distracted people. Bring your spirit or stay home!

And I can increase your vital sense of abundance, so that you can bring more warmth into your daily actions.

Come hang with me, Collective, when you want to feel content in the knowledge that you have chosen a wise path for yourselves. If you are currently struggling with uncertainty about the road ahead, then time with me can help you focus on what is working (and what isn’t), so you can drop the things that are unhelpful and commit to those that are of benefit. Then you can just enjoy walking on a path that feels strong and sure.

Ah, great! And what do you have to share with us today?

Why go slow?! Why are some of you starting to hold back on grand plans because it’s-the-end-of-the-year-and-I’m-too-busy-blah-blah, nonsense! I want to see you all swing around showing off your finest ideas and routines – if the timing feels right for you of course – before 2014 draws to a close. I want to see more of you reclaiming your inner exhibitionist and making it very obvious to the world around you that you exist and your have your own way of injecting wisdom into the masses.

Bring forth your wild and wacky wisdom Collective! This is no time to play polite and demure, especially now that we are out of the Victorian times (thank goodness).

And now I believe it is time for The Ringmaster (The Hierophant).

You are correct. Here I am, feeling somewhat less stuffy than I usually feel. I am often rather laden down in a cumbersome hat and keys, and managing to frighten the more permissive-minded of you lot simply because of my association with tradition and authority.

Are you presenting another side of yourself to us today Ringmaster?

Why yes I am, Collective. First of all, I am feeling rather dapper. The tarot artist has dressed me well. I am feeling more comfortable as a result. And somewhat more welcoming. I want to help the Collective to achieve their dreams by reminding them to think big, and to remember all that they have learned thus far. I didn’t become Ringmaster overnight, but now that I am in this position I want to use my status to encourage people to think big and to grow bigger.

Time with me gives you all the opportunity to look at ways of being that inspires others to grow and learn. How many of you have been awestruck by the powerful presence of a human who is comfortable in themselves and aware of their birth-right to be free and strong of mind? I will help you find ways to hold that presence within yourself. Now carry on to the Eight of Batons (Wands) – I think they are excited to meet with you all!

Hello, hello, hello! Well, I am usually associated with opportunity in tarot decks but oh my goodness what an opportunity is this – to be flying through the air as a trapeze artist to inspire you all to fling out some amazing creations as you near the final days of the year. I am all for helping you grab at opportunities, and being clever enough to know which ones to go for and which ones to ignore lest they slow you down or divert you.

I think it far better the Collective do their utmost to prioritise themselves away from the type of situations that get in the way of powerful endings and beginnings. I want you to all be more connected to what is most important so that you can feel incredibly comfortable with the decisions you make as you head into this festive time of seemingly inescapable obligation.

It is escapable, but to be more specific and clear – you’re not really escaping anything if you are connecting to your heart. You are instead stepping IN to your life and leaning in to what is most precious to you. And now, to The Whole Show (The World) to take this reading to its final destination.

Nothing to see here folks. I’m just riding a horse in a hot-air balloon above the earth, haha! Seriously, what a great feeling! And how wonderful for you all that I am here to help you reflect on all that you have done this year. My goodness you Collective have done a lot!

You have learned interesting things, you have opened up to ways of being that encourage free-thinking and the questioning of propaganda, you have struggled, you have raged against ignorance or at least tried to, you have gathered in strength, you have grieved, you have laughed, some members of the Collective have left the building and we have also welcomed some newbies to the fold. What a strange and mysterious life we are all leading. Have you ever stopped to think about how marvellously weird it all is?

Anyway, with me you get to complete outstanding matters that now need to be closed and you get to open up to a whole new world – a way of being that is more on your own terms rather than always trying to fit in with these silly expectations and conditionings that society tries to impose upon you all.

Who wrote all those expectations and conditionings into you humans’ history in the first place, eh? They need a jolly good slapping and a good round in the Pie-the-Clown show at the Zirkus Mägi! Well my Collective, take care of yourselves as you near the end of 2014 and remember to rise above the silliness, because my goodness you don’t want to drown in that stuff! Onwards and exponential upwards!
