Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ June © 2014

This month I am working with the newest tarot deck in my ever-growing collection – the Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince. I was fascinated by goddess mythology in my early/mid 20s, and I am enjoying re-immersing myself in this lore. There are 78 goddesses from many different cultures featured in the deck, and many that I haven’t heard of before. So here we have June’s Tarot Reading for the Collective, courtesy of some dark goddess imagery – hooray!

Chariot ~ Ishtar - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince-2.jpg

Leading the charge for us this month is the Chariot ~ Ishtar. Greetings Ishtar, mind if we stroll with you for a while?

Stroll? How about you run to keep up. And do try and keep up, and keep your questions relevant and clear. No silliness will be tolerated. I have too much to focus on as it is.

Oh…Well, look. Don’t worry about it, we’ll just leave you be then.

Goodness me Collective! Don’t get all mopey or scared. Just be in your strength, trust in your confidence and come run beside me.

Just because I set clear boundaries doesn’t mean I’m angry or don’t want you around. I just want you to be everything that you can be, without having to apologise for your existence. Own your lives, completely.

Now you can move on. Brigid is up ahead.

Hello Alchemy (Temperance) ~ Brigid, how do you fare?

Alchemy (Temperance) ~ Brigid - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince-1.jpg

Very well, thank you. I can see you have been reminded of the need to stay focused with Chariot ~ Ishtar, and I’m afraid I am going to ask the same of you while I finish off my business.

What business would that be?

I am maintaining the fine balance between working hard and relaxing, and keeping the universe aligned.

That sounds pretty major.

It is, but it needn’t be difficult or frightening. With me around, you just need to make best use of your time by making the effort to learn new things. And not inconsequential, superficial things – rather – deep things that ask you to shed layers and confront your ego’s madness.

You may notice resistance arising as you approach me, but really, I am so lovely and productive to work with. I hope you make the time to learn with me this month.

We will do our best O Brigid.

Are you ready for me, my children?

Three of Water (Cups) ~ Mami Wata - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince.jpg

Hello Three of Water (Cups) ~ Mami Wata. May we call you mother?

Haha. Call me what you will, dear ones, but listen closely to what I say. The time is nearing for you to make some decisions, and an aspect of those choices may ask you to turn away from what warms your heart most.

Never think, my dears, that you can do well in life by harming others or ignoring what makes you feel better about this strange and mysterious existence. Do make time to sit and soak in the company of good friends.

Not all the Collective will be sitting with kindred spirits at this moment. What if there are no friends around us right now?

Make sure you can be a friend to yourselves then. Offer yourselves the kind of rest, downtime and support you would offer to one you would love. I can only work with you if you are willing to work with me in return.

Of course, my love for you will be there regardless, but really, it is so exciting when you can work with me in a strong and intense rather than diluted way.

Thank you, Mami Wata.

Go on now to Ixchel, children.

Ten of Water (Cups) ~ Ixchel - Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince.jpg

Hmmph.

Hello Ten of Water (Cups) ~ Ixchel.

Hmmph.

…I’m not sure how best to translate your response to the Collective, O Ixchel.

What’s there to translate? Here I am, in the water, being with the water, tending to the water, honouring the water. Are you attending to your emotional needs my dears?

Are you climbing out of your boxes and testing your resilience in the big wide world? Or are you waiting for the fairytale ending, supplied by someone else, so that you don’t have to risk your heart and your mind?

Gosh Ixchel. Heavy.

Heavy, light, call it what you will Collective. But don’t wait to see what comes around the corner to you. You have to go out and meet it.

Would you like to talk to me now Collective?

Yes please Two of Water (Cups) ~ Lorelei.

Well, Ixchel was talking about going to meet what’s around the corner, and here I am.

There are two skulls at your feet Lorelei.

Oh them? Yes. Just some reminders of impermanence I have lying around. I sing to them and I sing to the river and I make sure that within every commitment there is the awareness that one day this commitment will break.

Really?

Well of course. You don’t plan on living forever do you Collective? Anyway, I have observed that the commitments that have this awareness of impermanence usually have more depth, more clarity and more love to them.

No need for jealousy and possession when people come together with sharp minds and open hearts. Of course, this description can expand beyond love to all ways in which you Collective exist in this world.

I think I should speak now.

Carry on Nine of Water (Cups) ~ Lady of the Lake. What would you like to say?

Water water water water – do you have enough Water, Collective? That’s what I want to say. Are you sure you haven’t missed the point?

Four out of the six cards in this reading are Water. How did you allow yourselves to become so parched?

Is this a trick question?

Perhaps. I haven’t decided yet. Did you bring your senses?

Our senses?

Yes, your capacity to feel your way into the truth of things without receiving the facts. Though facts, I have found, can be so unfactual. People get so caught up in them that they ignore the reality that life is ever-moving, ever-changing.

I wish more people would get lost in the moment and stop trying to imprison the world with lies and delusions.

My gift to you my dears is to remind you to come to the lake more often.

Which lake?

Any lake. Even a puddle will do.

A puddle?

Metaphors, dearests, we are talking in metaphors here. Look, I would really love for you all to let yourselves let go of the busyness and the must-dos.

Go with the flow a bit more, find a different route sometimes, and find people to converse with who encourage your natural intelligence to blossom. That way I won’t have to come and shock you with startling truths. Carry on my dears, carry on.
