The first Tarot Reading for the Collective for 2013 was done with The Collective Tarot, by the Tarot Collective. I thought it fitting to finish off the year with the same deck.
Sing with me everyone, as we carry on forth to the life of our dreams!
Hi Temperance, you look like you’re in a good mood. And perhaps a bit more upbeat than you were in last month’s Tarot Reading for the Collective.
Well you know, different tarot artists bring out different moods. I like my skull t-shirt, I love pouring (and drinking) coffee, I love my wings and I am especially enjoying performing for you all.
Is there anything in particular you want to throw at us, so that we might better understand your presence in our lives right now?
Why yes! In your quest for maintaining balance and reverence in your life, don’t be fooled into thinking that you have to be serious and/or boring. Please celebrate and delight as you find new ways of bringing ALL aspects of yourself into view, rather than just the parts that you deem publicly acceptable.
I don’t want any of you being ordinary (not that there’s anything wrong with being ordinary, but if you’re hiding even the smallest quirk, surely you’re not being as real as you could be?)!
Thank you Temperance. How about we mull over what you shared by hanging out with the Ten of Bottles (commonly known as the Ten of Cups). Hi Ten of Bottles, I like the setting you have chosen for us.
Yes, we thought it would be nice to meet by the sea for a bit of contemplation time, and discussion as to how we can maintain our current connection with life as we prepare for another busy year.
There always seems to be more and more to do, and we want to make sure that we don’t forget what’s most important.
And what would be most important?
Connecting with friends, sharing our hearts, our joys and our sorrows.
Never being afraid to seek connection with those who seem different to us and maintaining open-hearted curiosity in as many places in our lives as possible.
Now head forth to the Eight of Bones for more possibilities.
Hello Eight of Bones (Eight of Pentacles), wow. You are really looking different than usual.
Yes, you are seeing us as we look when we are stripped back, without all the fuss and bother of trying to impress and be noticed.
We still retain that capacity of the traditional Eight of Pentacles to create things, from scratch, that are spun from one’s own heart and yearnings, yet we’re taking all of you deeper this month.
Where does it all begin, this yearning and desire to connect with life in a truly marvellous and unique way? We are helping you all spin something very sacred to you into existence.
We are helping you protect what you cherish most until you are ready to unleash it into the world. We are helping you grow beautiful ideas that take on a life of their own, surprising you and helping you better understand that while we may try to control our lives, there will always be an element that is completely uncharted.
An element that forces us to come face to face with our own frailties as well as our strengths. We, the Eight of Bones, will help you be okay with that kind of introspection. It is vital that you grow in this way and you should never be ashamed of what you find as you dig deep within. All of it has the capacity to transform and inspire not only yourselves but those around you.
In the spirit of inclusivity, we would never toss away one of our bottles in order to be popular. We are anti-popular. People may aspire to being in connection with us, but struggle when it comes to the inner work that is necessary in order to take full advantage of our particular brand of wisdom. We don’t want people to get stuck with us, but we want people to know that they can hang out with us and regroup whenever they like before they move onto the next stage of the journey.
We weren’t expecting to talk so long! But there you have it, we are done.
Ten of Keys (Ten of Wands)? Do you wish to follow on from that?
Why yes, thank you Collective, we would love to. We appear to you in all in a state of some disrepair. There were many plans and actions we were hoping to take this year, and now as we are nearing the end of 2013, we are beginning to see that perhaps (actually quite certainly) some of these things will not be done.
And now we are faced with the difficult task of selecting what is most meaningful to our growth and needs right now, and what is not.
Those aspects of our lives that aren’t giving us exactly what we require right now will need to be gently placed down, as we seek horizons that ultimately allow us to give more, to more people, in more beautiful and substantial ways.
And though there is much left undone, we, the Ten of Keys feel confident that our clear intentions will help us move forward in a way that fosters growth and trust in our decision-making process. And to those of the Collective facing difficult choices right now, we ask you to consider that doing something that feels like the right thing to do – though unpopular with some – might in some strange way inspire those who may feel left out of your decisions. Best wishes for everything!
And if you are still struggling to figure out how to let things go, I can help you with that.
Hello dear Five of Bones (Five of Pentacles), welcome to this tarot reading.
Thank you for greeting me so kindly: it is often that people get a little unsure about things when I turn up.
Particularly when I turn up in my current form. I guess a skeleton hand with sand falling through it might make some people’s minds go towards death and decay.
And though I help point out what is falling away or what is not quite working, I like to think that by reminding people of these things, it could help kick them into action.
They might go, “hey, something didn’t happen in the way that I had hoped, but now I have this opportunity to do something that is actually far better”… or something like that.
Sigh. I don’t know. Perhaps I’m that inconvenient reminder of things left undone, and all the things shoved into the over-full too-hard-basket. I know I’m not all pretty and sweet, but surely life can be sweeter by acknowledging me in the first place and dealing with what I point out?
Certainly it can dear Five. And I, the Artist of Feathers (sometimes known as the Queen of Swords) can help vocalise the stories and realisations that the mainstream world is sometimes fearful to hear.
I like sharing my heart with the world, and I particularly enjoy sharing my heart in a nonsense-free way. I am not looking for cotton wool to swaddle my words as I speak, nor am I looking to cut and harm.
I just want to be clear and reasonable, being lucid and straightforward and not falling prey to the politeness that asks us to apologise for things that need not be apologised for.
I want the Collective to feel safe in sharing their lives with their communities in a way that is honest and loving. I want the Collective to share their songs with a proper understanding of why it is they are speaking in the first place.
What is your intention? Are you wanting to connect with the world or fight?
And if you are wanting to fight, then why are you opening your mouth when you haven’t yet delved inside of your own mind and heart, to find what lies within you that troubles you so?
I would like to carry on from here if I may, dear Artist of Feathers.
Please do, Artist of Keys (Queen of Wands).
I wish to help the Collective remember all the special ways in which they can make life work.
Sometimes we can do very practical things: we can call someone or catch up with someone with whom we have had a grievance, OR we could just make sure that no matter what happens, we are still finding ways to be loving towards this person or people (we can also do both these things!).
Despite all the things that are said and done, we can still find a way to be open to compassion rather than finding excuses for continuing the ongoing rolling around in mean-spiritedness. I feel tightness in my heart as I say those words ‘mean-spiritedness’. Imagine what its like to be actually participating in that action?!
So, at the close of this year, I would love for the Collective to have found some way of opening a door in their hearts to let in someone they have had difficulties with (even if you don’t speak to that person – right now its more about well-wishes) and to let go of any stories that keeps those people in your bad books.
Beyond that, I would love for the Collective to feel really good about getting powerful and inspiring ideas out into the world, even if in tiny ways, so that we can all benefit from the experiential wisdom that each of us has been accumulating on this journey around the sun. See you next year for more (of everything!).
