Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ May © 2013 Sarah Barry

8 of Pentacles - Tarot of the Cloisters by Michelle Leavitt

Starting as we do, with a tarot card whose influence we are moving away from, we might ask ourselves as we wave farewell to the Eight of Pentacles:  What is it exactly about this inspiring card, that encourages us to create our life’s work according to our own parameters, that we think we no longer need?

It is not so much the positive qualities of our friend the Eight that we are moving away from, but rather those slightly peskier qualities of…

…Hey! What do you mean pesky?!

Ah! Greetings Eight of Pentacles. We don’t think you’re pesky, per se, we’re just pontificating as to why we have moved on from you, and were thinking that perhaps there are some qualities you possess, that we no longer need.

Like what? Aren’t you loving my gung-ho, get-up-and-go presence?

Ohhh, well, sometimes I guess we might just need to rest and feel a bit blah, you know? And not do anything. And not feel guilty about that. Accepting that at times we just need to approach situations from a different angle, and not be all onwards & upwards/soldier on! So thank you Eight, we do love your company at times, so please come again another time. Maybe later this month?

Page of Staves - Tarot of the Cloisters by Michelle Leavitt

Now come and play with me, Collective!

Page of Staves (Wands), hello! Hmm, though you’re not exactly relaxing either, are you?

No, not at all! But you’ve had your rest now haven’t you? You weren’t planning on being uninspired for a whole month were you?

*Sigh*. No. We guess not. What shall we do in your company, oh Page?

Start a revolution!

A whole revolution? Gosh. Really? Now?

Yes, but perhaps I should describe the kind of revolution I’m talking about before you freak out and go back into “I-just-need-to-be-uninspired-so-leave-me-alone-mode.”

See me as a source of fine light, illuminating something within your consciousness that you’ve been scratching near for sometime but can never quite get to.

Experience me merely as the kick you need in your buttocks, as gentle or as feisty as you need it. I am here to help you get things in order so that you complain less to your loved ones at the end of the day. Okay?

Okay then. I think The Collective can handle that. Where to once you’ve kicked our butts?

How about The World? Will that do?

The World - Tarot of the Cloisters by Michelle Leavitt

Oh my goodness hello dear World! Wow, have you ever turned up for The Collective Tarot Reading before*?

Bound to have, surely. We could do a quick search on Psychic Sarah’s blog to check, but if you don’t mind I’d rather just talk to you all now and then let you carry on with life. No need to get caught up in the facts. Unnecessary. I am here now and that is all that matters.

As for what I can offer you all, well apart from the obvious (ain’t giving you the world enough? Hah!), I come at the very end of the major arcana in the tarot deck, so I give you all the chance to see how far you’ve come and to help you honour your wisdom.

I help you get clearer about why you chose the path you are on, sit with you as you remember all that you have been through to get to this point, and then I swirl you around and throw you out into the universe where hopefully you will land on your feet and make some better decisions in the next cycle of your life.

Aren’t we already making good decisions dear World?

There is always more room for better decisions, Collective. I say that to everyone. Don’t take it personally.

Queen of Pentacles - Tarot of the Cloisters by Michelle Leavitt

Come over here now my dears, for a bit of a rest after all that spinning.

Ah, Queen of Pentacles. Thank you for meeting with us.

Of course! I have something I want to show you all.

Your Pentacle?

Well, yes, you can look at that if you wish, young Collective. Though I was thinking more about showing you how to be more at peace with yourselves this month.

How do we do that?

Well, first let’s see what you’ve been up against this month. You ran away from the Eight of Pentacles claiming you needed to be a little less gung-ho and a little more chilled out for a while, got your asses kicked by the Page of Wands (in a very kindly and warm-hearted fashion), and were twirled by The World.

That’s a lot of action in a small amount of time, and action that can be overwhelming if you don’t stop to notice what you are learning, and if you are still busy comparing your progress to other members of the Collective.

So I am here to remind you to find the balance between working hard and resting so that neither aspect overpowers the other. By making time for transformative play as well as good, solid, beneficial hard work you will find yourselves more at peace.

And as for how we can strike that balance and be more at peace?

What does Psychic Sarah usually suggest in these Collective Readings?

Meditation, yoga, cups of tea, etcetera, etcetera.

Typical, and I will concur. I will add to the mix, a spot of rolling around in autumn leaves and barefoot walking upon the earth.

How will that help?

One way to find out…

2 of Vessels - Tarot of the Cloisters by Michelle Leavitt

I think the Two of Vessels (Cups) could help too.

Hi guys. What brings you forth to The Collective this May?

The need for introspection that includes another. By that we mean that feeling at peace within yourself is no good if you aren’t sharing the qualities you attain through your own hard work.

How do we share our helpful qualities in the Two of Vessels style?

Look out for each other and really listen, with your entire being. Only make yourself available when you are truly ready to give. If you are not quite ready, either stand back, or if you think it necessary to be available to others, then at least hold your negativity in check and be very curious about what you are about to learn.

Ultimately, enjoy reaching out to others. The flow of compassion is a beautiful thing to give and receive.

Ah, thank you dear Two of Vessels. I can see that we have nearly come to the end of the line of this month’s tarot archetypes, so it must be time now to salute The Sun.

The Sun - Tarot of the Cloisters by Michelle Leavitt

Greetings Friends.

Any last insights, Sun, to shine on us before we head off into the night?

Well, I like to celebrate. I like to show people that there is a shinier side of themselves to connect with. Even when they are eyebrow deep in a pile of dung there is still a small spark that exists despite the pressure of the surrounding circumstances.

So for this month, I would like to provide some little bursts of ‘wow’ that arrive when you least expect it.

All you need is even a slight suspicion that there could soon be something to celebrate. Being open to The Sun’s influence means you are more likely to take yourself to places where your fellow humans embrace all aspects of your unique self, without judgment and with so much love. Enjoy!

*I couldn’t help myself. I did a search on my blog. The World has been very absent from The Collective readings, until now.
