Tarot Reading For The Collective ~ November 2014
This month’s Tarot Reading for the Collective is brought to you by the Triple Goddess Tarot by Isha Lerner, illustrated by Mara Friedman. I used this tarot deck for one-card readings as I roamed around Club Agapanthus – a night put on by a troupe of extraordinary humans at the beginning of this month at Sidetrack Theatre in Marrickville.
As I wandered around the dance floor and outdoor area and gave short readings for people after they randomly selected their card du jour (or rather, nuit), a friend asked if I had used this deck for the Collective reading before. “Why no, I haven’t!” How remiss of myself I thought. The Collective clearly needs some Goddess loving. So here we go my friends.
We start with Trinity, a card not typically seen in a traditional tarot deck. Indeed, there are a number of departures from tradition with this deck: there are 33 cards instead of 78; the minor arcana is absent, but in addition there are seven ‘chakra’ cards and three ‘infinite’ cards and Trinity.
Many of the major arcana names have been changed, but their origins are clear in name and visuals.
Here with Trinity we dare to embrace all aspects of ourselves and all the revelations that come with that, whether comforting or not. Is there something you wish to tell us, Trinity?
Instead of wishing that you had the knowledge or strength you have now at a time in the past, you can just be content that you now have this knowledge and strength at all.
Growing is not something that you happen upon – it is earned through much effort. I will embrace you so that you feel held and supported in your yearning to learn more about this mysterious life and your part to play in it.
…And I will meet you in that place of embrace and teach you how to move with more acceptance of your body and mind.
Hello Fullness of Life (Empress), thank you for coming.
Of course. I always want to help those of the Collective sink back into their skin and remember the organic nature of their own bodies. Everyone moves differently, with their own unique wisdom, and it saddens me to see others trying to impose their limited ideas about shape and expression onto others who don’t fit their ideals.
I am all for embracing beautiful and harmless expression, that which encourages us to look beneath the surface and awaken the idea that perhaps there is a bigger point to consider. A point that is more extraordinary than anything merely physical. Something that helps us recognise much deeper and more profound things.
Like what?
Well that my dears is all part of the mysterious navigation we are all required to do in this life. Though I see Open Heart (The Lovers) up ahead. Perhaps they can enlighten you all in that regard.

Mmmmm.
Open Heart? Do you have something to share with us?
Ohhh. Just that I am enjoying finally being seen for who I really am in this image – the ability to love myself rather than that not-always-accurate focus on partnership with another, that other tarot decks often present me as.
Of course, I can help people join in relationship if that is how they wish to explore life, but I prefer to look first at how I am expressing kindness to myself. And then learning more about the world around me so that I can quash my hatred towards others and encourage decency and consideration.

Welcome Crown Chakra. We don’t usually see you in these parts.
No you don’t. Enjoy it while it lasts. I am speaking through time here, to help you all become unstuck from the madness of greed and craving. I am open to the wisdom that you all bring to this world.
There is no one human or one group or one culture that speaks for you all. You will need to stop looking at the differences between yourselves and start to notice the benefits you each bring to the table. There is a lot of goodness here if you are willing to notice.
And stop listening to all the shock jocks! [Ahem. This is Crown Chakra speaking and I do believe that Psychic Sarah just tried to pretend she was me with that last statement].

I would have worded it differently Psychic Sarah. Stick to the broader concepts please. Allow people to find their own path. Alchemy (Judgment)? I do believe the Collective needs you now.
Yes, they do. They always do though they often shun me as my usual name in tarot decks (Judgment) freaks them out a bit. As Alchemy, I can reveal more of my possibilities. I can guide you to make changes to situations that no longer work for you.
I can help you remember all that you have learned thus far through your various trials and openings. And with this yearning for change and remembering of your own strength, you are more likely to be bold and start to interact with the world in a way that causes you far less stress.
You have already passed the test, if there ever was one. Now just start moving with wisdom and daring yourselves to try out ways of existing that inspire your curiosity and leave your heart feeling calm.
Ancestors (The Hermit), will you please take us now to the end of the reading?
Yes. Let us all just sit here and remember who has gone before us, whether related to us or not.
The teachings we have access to today that enliven and create a peaceable way of living are with us because humans that lived before us chose to share their wisdom in clear and helpful ways.
With me you can learn to recognise true pathways that keep you out of trouble and very much with your own instinct. You are here to learn, remember that Collective. Question the things that don’t make sense to you.
Perhaps there is a gift to uncover that will help you make peace with those you struggle to understand. Keep uncovering those gifts my dears, so that you can no longer forget how important it is to walk boldly and lovingly in this world.
